Frequently asked questions
What is the deadline to report foreign investment to the RBI?
Shares and CCPS issued to a person outside India must be reported in Form FC-GPR within 30 days of issue, and transfers between residents and non-residents in Form FC-TRS within 60 days of receipt or remittance of the consideration.
What happens if reporting is late?
The delay can be regularised by paying a late submission fee calculated on the amount and the period of delay. Longer or repeated defaults may need compounding with the RBI.
